Seeking IDE CD/DVD burner

I'm in need of a new high-quality DVD burner.

Simple, right? Not really, because I need it to be an IDE drive with a 4-pin Molex power connector. Nearly all contemporary burners are SATA, which I can't use. I'm guessing I could find adapters to use a SATA drive on an IDE interface, but I'd rather avoid having to buy and use them.

So... what drives are considered good these days with IDE/Molex connectors? I don't care about Blu-Ray, I just want quality burning of DVDs and CDs.

Thanks.

Most 22x and 24x DVD writers are SATA but you should be able to find a 20x DVD writer that is IDE. If I had to buy one, I'd look for the Sony Optiarc AD-7200A, Pioneer DVR-116, LG GSA-H55L, or LG GH22LP20

Your other option is to buy one of the many SATA adapter cards that support optical drives like most Silicon Image 3114 and 3124 do as long as you still have a free PCI slot open. the 3114 cards can be found for under 20 shipped on ebay and I just got the 3124 that supports SATA 300 for 36.09 shipped and it's running 3 optical drives now, even using the RAID bios and drivers, though I had to work at it a bit to get the third drive fully recognized and working. Here's the link in case you or anyone else want to try one...http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0563788791
