Hello:
I want to know if the burner DRU-840A is compatible with SONY VAIO PCG-GRZ530 AND 610 models.
I sent lots of messages to Sony tech suport. But of no avail. I look forward to this forum to help me out.
I thank you and look forward to a definitive response.

Sony, recognizing that not everyone is ready for Blu-ray or HD-DVD, announced three new CD/DVD burners today. The 840 series of multiformat drives includes two external models--one a slim drive designed for portability--and an internal model.
The DRU-840A (internal) and DRX-840U (external) offer the same burn speeds:
• 20X DVD+/-R
• 12X DVD+/-R DL
• 12X DVD+RW
• 6X DVD-RW
• 48X CD-R
• 32X CD-RW

The DRU-840A is an internal desktop DVD writer. It will not work with your laptop unless you put it in an external case.

And what other periphals are required to connect to the laptop from outside?
In that case, I can buy any good external DVD burner w/ USB support. Why the SONY tag?
Please explain and advise. I am a newbie and don't know even the ABC' of the hafdware issues.
