Hi everyone. I got an A05 for christmas from my wife. Right now, we have a Toshiba SD-2109 standalone, which won't play jack. I'm looking to get a new one, maybe the DV-354. Just wondering...anyone here have this standalone? Any insight/input about this one would be greatly appreciated...especially as far as how it does with DVD-R stuff.

¡Thanks!

Heya BuddhaTB...

Thanks for the sources and 411! Sucks that there's not more reviews on it. I might get it anyways as well as an APEX 1500.

If you can manage to find the discontinued Pioneer DV-440 for sale anywhere, that's an excellent player that'll read a newspaper if you offer it one.

Thanks for the tip, seaegg. Offhand, do you know how long ago the 440 was released? Didn't see any on ebay. Yahoo has it brand spanking new from around 160.00.

Thanks again!

If I remember correctly I bought mine around the end of 2001. It's a great player the only drawback for some people is the lack of a zoom button but it doesn't bother me because I like to watch movies in the correct aspect ratio.
