Hi I just have a question. I was thinking about purchasing the Lite-On Phomaster LVD-2100 and needed to know if it was a multi region player.

Someone who has one or used one, I would like to hear from you.

Thankyou.

Taken from here:

http://www.regionfreedvd.net/player/liteon.html

1. Press: open/close
2. Using the remote contrrol, key in the following: 2, 9, 6, 0.
3. Now you are in a special-menu of this dvd-player.
4. Take the cursor to "0" for code-free.
5. You can take the cursor to "Macrovision: Yes/No".
6. When you are ready, press: Open/Close or Enter to finish.

I can't verify that this works since Boone still has not sent me the LVD-2001.

I've had it for a month now. That code will bring up region selection and another fun thing. The player works great, plays almost any type of messed up MPG I have and also plays JPG's real well off the readers or a cdrw. The DIVX support is about 90 percent because some of the early low motion 3.11 ones don't play right. It also doesn't display folders yet, just lumps everything together and doesn't shuffle MP3's I guess either. It will play WMA's also. The video quality is excellent and it even plays data dvd's and can play the individual ts type folders that happen when the DVD your trying to make doesn't get done right. It also upscales to 720 and 1080i if you have a HD TV and folks say that looks real nice too.
I'm sure after a few more firmware upgrades this thing will do a lot more things properly and might get hacked to do MUCH more. LiteON is commited to supporting it and getting everything the way it should be.

I got my Liteon player wednesday night. It does indeed play other regions after opening the hidden menu. The disabling Macrovision is nice to make VCR backups of kids shows.I upgraded the firmware imediately to 2.29 and I tested it for about an hour.I threw about 25 disks at it without a single problem.I even tried a new Divx 5.1 file and it played. I didnt have a 3.11 divx file laying around that I know of so I didnt try that.
