This is coming from DigiTimes so take it with a grain of salt...

In addition to white-box vendors, Lite-On IT, the largest Taiwan-based maker of half-height optical disc drives, plans to offer BD players also for sale at about US$150, EDN indicated.

I can't imagine that Lite-On would enter the set top player market again. They showed off a Blu-ray player a couple of years ago and killed it off along with the rest of their product line.

My LiteOn dvd player was great till they decided to quit making and supporting it. I had the first one they released with all the bells and whistles like DIVX and memory card slots. It worked great till the drive stopped reading anything :( I still have it, just kinda gave up when a different drive didn't seem to help.

Yeah, I still have a couple of their DVD recorders. One has an HDMI bug that makes the audio and video go out of sync. They fixed it in the firmware for the European and Taiwanese versions, but not the US one.

Actually, since my 811 burner experience I'm pretty soured on their dvd burners and recorders. I loved their CDRW drives and that LVD 2001 dvd player was ahead of it's time, had component out and up scaling to 1080i when nobody else was doing that. I also ended up buying a 2005 dvd recorder by them because it's one of the few that could also write to data CDR disks, came in handy for dubbing some OLD reel to reel tapes my step dad had from his family and music days.
