The link to the upgrade works. The full install doesn't.

If someone has the full install, send it to me and I'll host it somewhere.

Stolen from rgrimes at CDFreaks:

You're busted. For some reason I don't get notifications on this thread if I don't post every so often, so this slipped past me. Those links are updated every time there's a new release. I also have every version ever released in both formats. I have no problem with you linking to the CDFreaks upload. I've stolen a few things myself.

Is anybody else getting buggy scanning behaviour in 1.1.13? I've had it abort several tests, I suspect it's happening with read errors.

it's happened to me twice so far, but these were VERY buggy discs:
CMC 99min CD-R burned at 40x....ICK! I mean, honestly, did they really think their 99min discs were SO good they could be burned at 40x ???

they seem to be almost bearable at 12x so far....ICK!

I went back to v1.1.12 and the problem went away. It's a lot like the way it was in the early versions, it aborts if you have higher C1 rates, I couldn't get it to scan RW discs more than 1/4 of the time.

Sorry !
I don't come here for a long time ! Because I have some problems
about my web, and I was busy for my new project , it is for Serial
ATA drives.
 My web page was killed ! I don't know how to update
1.1.14, I found bugs in 1.1.13 as you discussed.
Rdgrimes : Can you tell me where I can upload my program ?
Thanks very very much!!!

it is for Serial ATA drives.

I deffinitely want to hear more about that.
Karr, I can host anything you want at CDFreaks, just mail it to me and it's done. And, if these CDRLabs guys behave themselves, I might share with them too. I'll check to see if I can get you access to the CDFreaks upload.

Karr Wang:

I'm sure that KProbe can be uploaded at CDRLabs as well. Just email one of these guys:

Ian (ian@cdrlabs.com)
Dan (dan@cdrlabs.com)
Boone (boone@cdrlabs.com)
Matt (matt@cdrlabs.com)
Socheat (socheat@cdrlabs.com)

Actually, it doesn't matter if rdgrimes manages to steal KProbe 1.1.14 from this site! :P :D

Now Liteon drives still don't support Serial ATA bus.
But MediaTek is developing the chip.
I think Liteon maybe has Serial ATA drives on 2004 Q1
So , I must develop the testing program as soon as possible.
I will keep maintain and add new features for KProbe !!
If you have any problems for using Kprobe,I hope you can
mail me directly, because I am afraid I have no enough time
to come here.

Thanks all

has anyone noticed that MInfo 1.4 reports that Taiyo Yuden discs can only be read at 12x, but most CMC discs can be read at 48x....HUH?

Sorry, I don't have a changelog for it.

Looks like it's fixed in v.14, it will now scan the RW discs that it failed to scan in v.13.

MInfo reports a 12x read speed for all blank media I've tried with my LTR48246S (TY, Daxxon, CMC, MBI, Verbatim), and has since V1.2 (the oldest I still have floating around). It shows 32x read for (S)VCDs and 48x for all other disks with information on them.

Frankly, I don't think that a read speed for a blank disk means anything- so 12x is fine, and it is consistently this value.

oops, my bad. I normally don't load MInfo on non recorded media, expept when I'm testing older crappy media, which is usually my old CMCs.

heh, I never considered the format of the disc to affect the read speed!

Thanks for hosting KProbe, rdgrimes! :P

Apparently the "120 dpi issue" has not been fixed in KProbe 1.1.14. That is, for "Font size Normal" and "Large size (120DPI)", the Write Strategy | Setup window is too small and the saved PNG files are clipped on the right, as discussed for KProbe 1.1.13 in

Karr, I discussed the idea with Ian and we (CDRLabs) would be willing to provide hosting (www.cdrlabs.com/kprobe?) for your utility and website. We could also provide a subsection of the software forum for Kprobe development and support related discussion.

I'm sure many of the frequent posters to this thread would not mind contributing their time to the new forum? cfitz, kck, Medium Rare, etc?

If you would like to take us up on this offer shoot me an email, and I can get socheat to set the webspace up and I can get working on the forum creation.

Yes, Matt, this is a good idea. BTW, I've been wondering why this thread has not achieved a "sticky" status so far. :P
