Well, I know the Ritek DVD-R discs (DRD-47-4X-RDSM) burn fine at 4X in the Lite-On 851S with the latest firmware and then play in a Toshiba SD-4800 DVD player with no problems. Now this was only one movie I backed up (The Matrix), but it worked!
Also, I backed up The Matrix Reloaded and it worked as well.
UPDATE >>
Crap, upon closer inspection, I looked at the plastic top thing for these discs without a spindle and it said "MADE IN TAIWAN". I was under the false impression that these were Made in Japan. Oh well, they gotta be better than the TDKs, Maxells and other crap sold at BestBuy and other stores, right? I didn't post the graph of the Nero CD/DVD Speed results, but here's the rest of the results:
WRITTEN on DISC cover plastic thing:

Note >> the graph makes a nice curve that dips down to just below 2X and then back up if this helps at all.
I just searched and I think this is the media I have:

So, what's the verdict on these discs? Are they any good?
