Anyone know anything about these CD-Rs and if they are any good? I bought them for temporary storage of data only:

Verbatim CD-R CD-Recordable 1X-52X Speed 80min 700MB/Mo
50 pack
Made In Taiwan
Reorder #94691
UPC code: 23942 94691
Hot Offer 100 MP3s from emusic

Clear inside ring: LH3110 JG061 1553 D2
Underside ring outside of this: CD-R 80 CWLHU2038 1107

NeroInfoTool:
Layer: 1
Supported Speeds: 40X 32X 24X 16X 8X
Blank Capacity: 79:59.51
Manufacturer ID: CMC Magnetics (97m26s66f)

The reason I'm asking is I just opened up the pack and an awful smell is emanating from the CD-Rs. It smells like a cross between burnt oranges and dead animals mixed with paint thinner (that's the closest I can come up with). Also, on the side of the stack it looks like a bunch of little bubbles. Strange? :o My lord, maybe I should just use Taiyo Yuden for everything.

CMC-media have a big variation in quality. I think that media is ok, but not very good, look for Verbatim DataLifePlus Super Azo (MCC) or Plextor and Verbatim Pastel (TY)
