haven't done too much with my DL burner for quite some time. However got interested again. Haven't followed the stories but why is DL media still not available as broadly as single layer?

I'm not sure why you say this. What country are you in? I'm in the US and pretty much any place that sells SL media sells DL as well, whether it be B&M stores or online retailers.

I guess I was not clear. I meant the disks are not mainstream. Open any ad with the sunday paper and the specials for DL disks are hard to find. Yes these can be bought at any store but why have these disks not become more popular and replaced single layer?

Office Max has 'em at $2 per this week, Verbatim brand.

Most stuff still fits on SL, that's why.

I've got plenty many blank DLs.
But I only use 'em if it takes too much shrink for an SL.

10-4?

Verbatim DL media is now $1.75-$2.50 per disc in Canada (yes, Canadian $$). I don't see it getting much cheaper then ~$1 or so really though.
