Nice work dude and I feel this indeed contributes significantly to the longevity study....

However, you above all others should know the concept of parity and jitter are largely meaningless in terms of "best" burns. It's not a resultant that can be used to ultimately determine overall quality of media, nor the disc.

Parity and jitter and pretty graphs are all well and good - but the more serious metrics we should look to (which our AudioDev homies are) are things like media geometry and reflective index measurement.

I'll never go as far to say a disc is the "best" I've seen, based upon the measurements you have used, alone.

Well, with my limited equipment I have on hand, and based on the results returned, I would say it's the best I've burned. Now whether or not it will hold up better then other discs is another thing completely!

And of course, this disc will be shipped off for CATS testing next week

"Best" is indeed difficult to justify- even without going to properties independent of the drive doing the reading (like zebraxor mentioned).

That's an amazingly low PIE level on both drives, but these can vary with drive temperature etc. The PIF count is nothing spectacular though, and I consider this to be more important.

I'm very curious as to what CATS measurements you're getting (just PI/PIF or other data) and am looking forward to more results!

So it'll be a little more in depth then your standard PIE/PIF/POF/Jitter/Beta testing I think But unfortunately I won't know just what will be included in the testing until I receive the results. But I *HAVE* received all of the above in previous tests!

...can't complain with mine. It took Pioneer to give me three different revisions of the hardware to get a decent one however.

Actually in general I think the DVR-111D is an excellent drive. It burns media quickly, and the quality is pretty good in most cases, and sometimes quite excellent. I'd rate it as my second favourite drive, right below the BenQ DW1640.

Well, so far, my 1655 beats it with every type of disc I've tried...if BenQ's really canning their opticals, I need to jump on another 165x ASAP...

It does seem to do very well with Verbatium 16x DVD+R's, though.

And, given what my 1655, 1620, and 4167 can do...it's hard to be impressed with anything.

You should try any DL media in your 111. Mine burns stuff like the Ritek that even my pickiest player can play. None of my BenQ's can even touch rhat stuff, although my 1640 improved quite a bit it seems with the latest R firmware.

You know I have to ask about whether that MXLRG03 disc has the short or long hub serial numbering scheme...

If you look in my longevity study thread you'll see ALL my serials listed

But since you ask, it's short type.
