Cheap 16x media: Prodisc or Optodisc?

Looking to save a few bucks for the non-important stuff.

I've got quite a few drives I can use; however, I perfer to save the BenQs for the really important stuff (with HQ media they do GREAT, so I'll do what I can to save wear-and-tear on 'em).

What's the general opinion on these discs?

I will also be adding a Lite-On (!) SHM-165H6S soon; and the 18x LG as soon as it hits newegg...

Edit: or is it better to grab the 8x stuff and hope it burns at 12x?

I'd get the Optodisc 16x DVD+R's and burn them on your Pioneer 111.

Sounds good, thanks!

Looks like I get to order quite a bit next friday: new PSU, mobo, dual-core cpu, burner, media... :P

Under which brands, and specifically which MIDs are you considering?

Well, since Rima.com doesn't carry Optodisc media, I (sadly) was looking here.

Any other suggestions for a source for these?

Do you want to buy Prodisc or Optodisc just as something new to play around with? If not, I think it's crazy to choose Optodisc or Prodisc when you get can get Verbs or whatever else is onle for less.

However, if you're insistent on Optodisc or Prodisc, I'd probably go for the Optodisc 16x DVD+Rs that aviationwiz mentioned. Unfortunately, I don't think Optodisc's A grade brand, Acro Circle, is sold in the US, so whatever Meritline is selling is probably a bit of a gamble.

NCIX has the Arco-Circle stuff, but $20 for 25 :o

I just wanted something a bit cheaper that'd burn quickly with half-way good quality...

Yeah, NCIX is quite expensive when stuff's not on sale.

Personally, I'd wait for Verbs to go on sale for the usual $0.26-$0.30 per disc. It's hard to beat that  Newegg has Verbatim 16x DVD-R 100pks for $29.25 with free shipping if that interests you.

Mmmm....cheap Verbatiums :)

Now if I could get my $(#@! Samsung 18x to work right with 'em, I'd be happy.

Oh well...well see what the 18x Lightscribe one can do :)
