Anyone had any experience with the Memorex Pro Gold Archival DVD-R's?

I saw them today in Micro Center, and they were made in France, which struck me as a tad interesting. Expensive though at $4 a pop!

5-Pack

3-Pack

They're made by MAM-E which, if I remember correctly, is located in France. Check this thread out for more info on the Pro Gold stuff:

No. Memorex didn't seem interested in sending me more and I still haven't seen them in stores. I kinda forgot about them until now.

Quite a change that the MID changed to MBIL or Mitsubishi it's still made by MAM-E which might influence the burn behaviour.

The factory is located at Ensisheim in Alsacia.
It has been bought recently from the italian CSI by a swiss company called Hayet Business Inc:

I got recently some no-label "gold color" DVD's made there at Ensisheim
with the MID code " MBI 01RG40 ",
which is a surprising MID code for "Made in France".
These DVD's did not burn very well in my NEC 3500 (firmware 2.1B)

MAM these days says they have a deal with MBIL about the use of the MID Codes but that is what MAM says.

According to the news Hayett wants to extend the factory at Ensisheim and maybe open an other one in the UK,
so I really wounder:
- which type of MID codes they are going to manufacture at Ensisheim in the future ?
- and which market they are going to aim ?
Because if they keep on manufacturing "low quality" media with higher manufacturing costs in Europe as in Asia
where are they going to sell them ?

TDK closed in may 2006 it's factory in Luxembourg precisely for this reason of higher manufacturing costs ...

The MAM-E factory in Ensisheim is closing (financially speaking)
Judgement: thursday october the 3rd in Colmar
Workers are occupying the factory because they have spotted camions which may carry away the machines (to where ?)
Source: local radio & newspapers

If this happens the only media factory left in France will be MPO
