JVC has delayed the release of its DVD-RW DL media again. The discs were originally supposed to come out in August 2007 and were pushed back until Jan or Feb of 2008. From what I can tell, they are now on hold until compatible drives are available. Translation:

Now, we have the next-generation optical disc is expected to be the fastest growing market in recent years judging from the situation, "standard DVD-RW for DL Ver.2.0" compliant products (so-called "two-layer single-sided DVD-RW discs") products To freeze it and to remind you that you can.

The current "DVD-RW standards" to comply with the "one sided recording layer" or "double-sided recording layer 1" disk products on the street so far the development, production, sale actively engaged in the future.

I'm guessing that BD-RE media will be cheaper then DVD-RWDL, and only slightly less compatible with existing DVD players.

(This statement can also be read as saying: I don't think DVD-RWDL will playback in almost any existing DVD Players)

Any word of DVD+R DL RW's? It would be nice if drive's could bitset them to DVD-ROM's, possibly making them somewhat compatible with stand-alone players. Lot's of if's, not the least of which is price like Dolph said.
