a bad cd problem..

hi
i have this bad cd with music i recorded on it..im trying to open it up so i can save the files to my computer so i can rerecod it onto a different cd..only it wont open up is there a way to open it up that im not aware of?

That's a good question. I can't say that I've ever tried to recover an unreadable audio CD. Maybe try it in another drive?

lucily i have the song list that on the cd so ill re recrd them on another brand of cd,,did u ever hear of windata cds?dont use them they r crappo..

IMO, recordable optical media is not ideal for long term storage of data or music. Too many factors can degrade the information stored on the disk. FLAC (or some lossless format) on traditional HDD's is the way to go. Use CD's for your car or home deck as needed, but don't expect them to last forever. I have old Mitsui Golds, Kodak, Ricoh media that are doing ok, but I have not scanned them in sometime to see. Today's CD media just plain sucks.
