Hey all,
got me a P4P800-E Dlx w/3.2C, Kingston 1G HyperX 3200 and a WD 200GB SATA.
I set everything up and loaded drivers for the SATA hard drive (i think)
so 1 hard drive, boots up fine...then i go to system devices...under the IDE ATA drives, it shows my dvd-r as ultra dma mode 2, and the hard drive under primary ide as ultra dma mode 5.
i'm thinking that a normal PATA 100 hard drive is already running mode 5, so shouldn't my sata drive be running something else??

Relax. Since you are running off a Intel mobo with native SATA support it is treating your SATA drive like a IDE drive instead of the usual SCSI. Even if it truely did limit you at ATA-100, no HDD on the planet could bottleneck it... I would suggest not worring about it. If you really want to, you could download a HDD benchmark (there's a good one in SiSoft Sandra). It tallies your HDD scores to similar drives. If they are the same (or near the same), everything is fine.

Wow! I thought my Bios listed it as a SATA device? Now you have me wondering. #-o

alright, i'm doing something wrong for sure.
the mobo the Promise controller with 2 SATA ports, and my SATA hard drive shows up as WD2000JD SCSI Device in devices, with the controller recognizing it as UDMA Mode 6.
When i plug it back in via the ICH5R SATA ports, it reverts back to UDMA Mode 5 and I can't change it in bios nor windows.
I've installed the Intel application acceleration drivers as well as the promise scsi drivers when i re-installed windows.
any suggestions would be great...i've already re-installed windows 10+ times.

Usually SATA drives show themselves as SCSI ones in Device Manager. Avoid installing Intel Application Acceleration software; you don't need any other drivers either. Everything needed for SATA drives is installed during Windows XP setup.

Why? Just curious.
