XP home @ sporadic 100% cpu use...

about every 5 seconds, my cpu use jumps to around 100%. Which pauses damn near everything for a split second.

Also when I type this the letters are appearing about 10 key strokes late!

I just did a clean format & XP activation (I had no choice) and it's been like that.

Also the mouse is so sporadic in the ps2 port, that I can't use it. It's fine in the usb ports though.

Antivirus says i'm clean.

I have the VIA chipset drivers installed.
Latest Soundblaster drivers, latest nVidia drivers etc.

All MS XP updates too.

any ideas guys?

I'm on the verge of another format C: weekend :x

Also, Task Manager seems to be culprit for hogging the cpu.

But why? I'm suspecting one of those XP updates...

Could be 3 things.

IRQ conflict.

Temps.

PSU.

*Eidt I'll add a possible 4th, App conflict.

It's not temps.
PSU is Enermax 350w. Never had a problem with it.

So IRQ's are looking to be it. ps2 mouse is on IRQ12 and is gray'd out...
Time to rermove a few other things to make room for the mouse I guess.

Thanks.
