How to re-install Mediaplayer in Win98?

I have Win98SE and media player just stopped working.
When I double-click the shortcut to mplayer2.exe, all i get is an hourglass, (curser), for 1 sec then nothing happens. (I have also tried the executable, not just the shortcut)
I have looked in the Dir where mplayer2.exe resides and nothing seemed missing.
I CAN play audio with mplayer.exe, (found in \windows). It only plays audio tho. It is an old audio only version of media player.
I have no other DVD players installed and wanted to try my Plex 708 with a commercial disc to veryfy the region.
I looked in control panal - add/remove, windows setup, but there is no option to install/uninstall media player (media player 6, mplayer2.exe)

I don't want to re-install Windows, and hope I don't have to, just to get Media Player working again.

[EDIT] I downloaded media player 6.4 and it is now working.
Seems I need a DVD Decoder now. I have PowerDVD, but would rather not install it and just use media player for DVD playback.
Where can I find a DVD Decoder for media player, without installing PowerDVD?

Thanks for reading this,
Jon

You are going to have to get some type of DVD plug-in. You can buy one from Microsoft.
