AVI to smaller format batch convert

I have a bunch of short AVI clips, how can i batch convert them to WMV or another smaller format?
Also, can i make it so that when i import a bunch of movies to windows movie maker 2 it doesnt split them between all those collections folders? so it could import the way pictures do into 1 folder

I'm not sure whether these would suit your requirements, but worth a try:

I would recommend any other format than WMV. For some reason most of the tools don't support MS Prop formats and few months ago I had a tough time converting WMV to an AVI. If you are looking for better quality and smaller file sizes, Divx (or Xvid - the free alternative) is the way to go.

Thanks for the reply, ill check out that software.
I dont like divx, rm or quicktime, but i need good compression, i dont like installing software for divx rm and quicktime, i like wmv, it is compatible with the software i use and is good for online video (No need to install software for the average user)
