Just wanted to some feedback on various archiving programs. There seem to be so many of them. Like WinZip, WinRAR, WinACE, Handy Backup, ZipGenius, PowerArchiver....etc.

What are people using and why did they choose that option?

I think this will be a good discussion.

7Zip is very nice, when all you need is the smallest final size -

WinACE is also very good in this dept, although the SFX modules are quite buggy, when it comes to spanning your archive on multiple volumes... But is indeed very nice.

I try to avoid WinRAR for the sake of it, just don't like it all.

The bottom line: bzip2 all the way!!

I agree with you. I really like 7-zip. It has very good compression and can open most archives. Note you can also make zip files with it too.

I like the sleek interface of WinZip.I also use WinRar as I often come across with RAR files.RAR compression offers the best compression for me.
