when Tools -> Folder Options -> General tab -> Tasks has Show common tasks in folders selcted (the WinXP taskbar on the left hand side of every Explorer window), then the View menu of the Explorer has the options: Filmstrip, Thumbnails, Tiles, Icons, List, Details.
however if in Folder Options i choose Use Windows classic folders, the Filmstrip viewing mode is gone from the View menu!!! :o :( :x

any idea why that is?
is there a way to overcome this?
i don't like the Tasks of WinXP, never use them. but i do like the Filmstrip viewing mode for my jpeg picture folders.

thanks, but re-read my first post.

let me restate my question:
i don't want the WinXP task bar (on the left hand side of an Explorer window).
i want to select Use Windows classic folders in Tools -> Folder Options -> General tab -> Tasks.
but i still want to have the Filmstrip viewing mode.

how (if at all possible) can i enable Filmstrip viewing mode while using Windows classic folders?

(for some reason it's only available with Show common tasks in folders. i can't possibly understand why)

Well......dodeca....The option disappears when "Show common tasks in folders" is disabled.
