...is there a simple (preferably freeware) program out there that prints web pages so that all the web page, or a specifically chosen frame of a web page, is printed? Thanks

In IE, right-click inside the frame you want to print, and select "Print". Just the frame will print. In Firefox, right-click inside the frame you want to print, select "This Frame", then select "Show Only This Frame", "Open Frame In New Window" or "Open Frame In New Tab" and print from there. It wouldn't suprise me if someone has written an extension for Firefox that lets you print just the frame directly.

...ah, but what happens if the frame is too big for printing?

You mean you want a print feature that takes an arbitrarily large page and/or frame and scales it to fit on one page? I'm not sure about that. If I come across anything, I'll let you know.

In Firefox, select File->Page Setup... and then uncheck "Shrink To Fit Page Width" and finally set the Scale to whatever value you want. I can't imagine a web page so big that 1% wouldn't shrink it sufficiently. Of course, this isn't an automatic scaling, so you may have to play around to pick the right percentage for any given page.

You may options provided by your printer driver (for whatever printer you are using) that will enable auto-scaling. Check and see.

To easily see the effects of the different scale settings, use the Print Preview feature. There is a scale drop-down box at the top center that lets you change the scale on the fly and view the results in the print preview pane below.

Yes there is. I use Canon's Easy-Web-Print and it prints out the web pages to fit. I downloaded it from from Canon's web site. Please note that I also have a Canon printer. Give this a try and see if it works with what you have.
