My new cd-rw is recognized by Windows 98 (in device manager) but when I try to load a burning program, it takes two minutes or more to load and then does not recognize my drive properly. I suspect an Aspi or registry problem, but have replaced the Aspi numerous times without success. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Dave

Give us more info.. what OS? What software? Did you run aspichk.exe to see if ASPI is installed and/or working?

The OS is Win98 and I have tried both my CD-Maker 2000 and Nero 5.5 programs. The delay between when you click the icon and when the program comes up may be closer to five minutes!! At first I thought the program simply wasn't working. In Nero I get my recorder identified as Image Recorder. The system uses a Celeron 566 soit is not a processor problem.

I attach a log of what happens from Nero:

It seems to me that Nero and Cdmaker don't support your writer check on
there web sites for a list of supported CD writers.
