Is there a fast and easy way to convert some PAL DVDs to NTSC? I have a DVD player that plays "some" PALs and I can play them in realtime to convert on my standalone recorder. I recently got a batch that won't play in the standalone. What's the solution???

I've heard of a lot of ways to do it (most involve pretty obnoxious demuxing of the video, redoing the video portion, then remuxing with the audio), but I've heard of an app called DVD Santa which claims to do it. I've never tried it out but never seem to be able to find any reviews of this specific functionality...

thx for the tip, used that dvd santa program, was painless re-encoding the PAL version of borat to NTSC

worked great, fast, plays great in the players that couldn't play the PAL version before

did it in about an 50 minutes

now my next problem is finding a HD-DVD Burner, i have almost all the HD movies downloaded and no way of burning them to disc, i might have to break down and buy our 1TB drive we sell at BBY just to store them

Wow, it actually worked? :)

Did it convert the menus and such, or just the main video?

I'm curious because if it works well I'd definitely like to get it, I've just never had the time to mess around with it...

I just got another package from my "buddy" and they're all PAL (again).
I bought the complete version DVDSanta but am waiting for the download
and instructions.
What I want to convert are DVDs with several TV episodes of each. My
question is will this DVDSanta make an exact copy? I'm going to experiment with DVD-RWs and then transfer to a regular.
This getting to be a farce. The guy I'm getting them from must be head of his department!!! [-o<
