Vista install crashing/hanging

Sigh...can't even try it out. Tried both x64 and x86 versions.

Vista does it's little "Windows is loading files..." thing, then got the little animated progress bar on the black screen...everything fine to this point. Next screen, I just get the background image and nothing else.

Anyone else have this problem?

What are you trying to install it on?

An Athlon 64/X2 on an Asus A8R32 mobo; 1GB ram, 500GB WD hard drive.

Gonna try a BIOS update and see if that helps...

BIOS flash seems to have fixed it; sorta :-?

It still hangs (for around 10 minutes), but eventually starts up the install.

Time to vLite it and have some fun...

Freakin' finally... :evil:

Couple of notes:
Creative's drivers suck (BSOD a couple of times already, using an X-Fi-XtremeGamer-Lookie-at-how-many-X's-I-Have-In-My-Name);

Vista does NOT natively support the Si3132 SATA controller (contrary to what the UpgradeAdvisor says);

Not having ZoneAlarm is making me grumpy...

Hmm...didn't know about Dreamscene...gotta try that. This machine sucks, I was have alot of odd-ball problems (both under XP & Vista). I've wiped and reinstalled XP; Vista x64 is next...

Just installed the x64 Vista...and it works much better on my hardware than the 32-bit one :o

Coolness...

Downloading Dreamscene now...
