DVD+R recognized as DVD+RW

I would appreciate all help with this.
The Problem: since a couple of weeks my discs from the same spindle are wrongly recognized in Nero 9 as RW. When I burn a dvd Nero starts to format the disc and I end up with a coaster. What I did in the last weeks: I upgraded from vista ult. to 7 ult., I installed daemon tools lite, installed clonecd, upgraded Nero 9. What I tried: I installed DVDindentifier, this program reads the discs correctly as DVD+R. Both Nero and clonecd read the discs as DVD+R, I tried other brands of discs and got the same problem. Reinstalled Nero 9. I have two Samsung S203H ata drives with the latest firmware. Both drives have the same problem so I assume it is a software problem or Windows?
I tried to find an answer in this forum but was unable to find any. Anyone ??
Thank you.

Did you do a clean install of Windows 7 or an in place upgrade?

if you did a clean install... I would try uninstalling daemon tools and see what happens.

Thanks Ian,
Since daemon tools gave me some trouble before, I uninstalled daemon tools lite, before an inplace upgrade. after the upgrade I reinstalled Daemon tools.
I will follow your advice and will uninstall DT lite.

Did uninstall Daemon tools lite but the problem persists. Also uninstalled clonecd. To be sure I also uninstalled STDP which comes with DT lite. Still DVD+RW.

That is just weird. I'm betting something got messed up in the upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. Are you able to back up your data and do a fresh install from scratch?

Thanks Ian, must be something in the software. A fresh install is something that will take me quite some time so only as a last resort. The weirdest is, after trying a whole spindle of 50 discs the number 48 came up as a regular DVD+R and I was able to burn it normally. I have philips and HP discs, but after learning a lot about discs lately, I found out brands mean nothing you have to look for the manufacturer. I will try DVD-R of other brands.

Does it do the same thing with the HP discs?

Yes Ian, both the philips and the HP brands DVD+R are reported as DVD+RW. I guess, but don't know much about it, the drives report to windows or nero etc. what kind of disc is inserted, that would suggest there is domething wrong with both he drives or the combination with the brands and the drives. I will try some different brands over christmas. Merry Christmas to you all.
