hi guys

i have a panasonic digital camera model dcm.ls80..its not compatiable with windows 7 64 bitswhich is my system.is there anything i can do about this?

I hope to get a new computer soon, and I'm betting I'll have the same problem.... I have a Canon camera, and I installed the software/CD that came with it so that I could transfer photos from the camera onto the computer HDD and do other things. I think you probably did the same thing...? I tried checking Panasonic Support, but each time I put the model camera you have in, it came up with nothing. But here's something that's worth a try:

I'd download this - it seems like it would find any Panasonic software installed on your computer and update it. I don't think you would mess anything up by trying.

lenny, the software that comes with your camera might not work with Windows 7, but the camera definitely does.

Pull the files/photos in via a card reader. I rarely connect my camera to the USB port unless I intend to shoot tethered for some indoor studio type work.

coonsanders - I didn't follow it through (although you'd expect an update to be free)

there was no update to fix it..i did find a way to save the photos too..thanks

So you can't see the camera in Windows Explorer? My camera doesn't autoplay either, but you can certainly get the pictures from it. To bad the lens decided to get stuck in the out position yesterday! I guess it's junk now.

lenny, take a look at that PDF file I posted. You should be able to change the camera's USB mode from PTP to PC. When you plug it in, it will appear as a storage device.

i just pligged it in and a sign came up saying how do u want to import the photos into the cumputer and i chose one way and and it started to import them..

I was only around $109 on sale. I set it to not start the file names over when the pictures are moved off the camera. We've taken around 1400 pictures. I was able to get the lens to retract twice before by lightly tapping it. Not this time, jammed solid. I have it in about 30 pieces now and cannot get the last screw out of the lens assy to see what is the matter (I don't have a small enough screwdriver).

Wife had a Phillips screwdriver for eyeglasses that worked. I'm not really seeing the problem with the gears. but finally got them to move. I think i will just junk it.

I was able to fix my daughter's camera that is similar. It had somehow got a hair in the lens. I was able to remove the CCD sensor and get it out with tweezers.
