It appears ImgBurn is no longer safe. I'm hearing it installs a lot of undesirable stuff with it. Also AV scanning removes the installer.

Anybody have a good alternative?

Yup. Was in the change log for version 2.5.8.0

Changed: No longer bundling/offering the Ask.com toolbar in the setup program, OpenCandy now handles product offerings during installation.

Use 7-Zip to extract the files shown in picture to a folder of your choice.
Make your own shortcut to ImgBurn.exe.

I was thinking I would just use an older version, or try something else. But maybe I'll try your suggestion. Seems like a good idea.

Surprised no one has another program to suggest.

Last time I updated it tried to install the tool bar and some things but I just unchecked the extra boxes. I haven't updated it or used it in a while and I think mine is still current so haven't seen what new things it might have now trying to sneak in.
Still a great program once you get past the baggage just do like red suggested if you can't find a clean version or it wont let you opt out of the extras now.

It's the baggage, and adverts added to software, particularly in Windows that has me turning towards the Mac and Linux. Windows is dying and so is desktop computing. As a photographer on the side, the Mac is simply more appealing to use. Been a Windows/build your own PC guy forever too. Never dreamed I would go that route, but I have. I think Windows 8 finally turned me off on the future of the PC. I do like the concept of their tablet and running Adobe Lightoom on one of them, but in general, their tablet sucks.

CD burning, for me, is dead. Can't recall when I last burned a disc.

Come on people....imgburn is fine. READ THE INSTALLER AND CHOOSE CUSTOM INSTALL. Then uncheck the adware. Don't blindly sit there clicking next next like a minion. Tons of software does this. Gimme a break

The ImgBurn installer is deceptive. You can choose "custom install", and then de-select the crapware, then choose "next." Guess what happens? You now have another dialog box where you for the second time have to select "custom install" and deselect the crapware, or you automatically get junk installed. And then, you get a message that says "Leaving all the boxes unchecked will not install anything." It is deceptive. The installer has a definite murky quality to it.

fact: it tries to install Open Candy.
fact: once OC has been avoided, it tries to install other crap by default.

imgBurn is not OK. I like redk9258's solution, or just using something else altogether.
