Do You Really Need A Virus Scan Program?

I have never gotten a virus the entire time I have had my pc. I never open attachments. I was just wondering if it is a waste of money paying for the annual updates if you never get a virus. I don't have a virus scan program on my pc. Thanks, Craig.

I think its worthwhile to have a virus scan program. But paying an excessive amount of money (more than $50) for one isn't really worth it since you'll need to pay for an update every year.

Grisoft offers a free basic version of their anti-virus software:

It seems to work pretty well.

I would have to say yes.

I've been online since 1996, and I average 1 virus a year (usually from friends via e-mail).

I personally know of people that had viruses, and had to format c: to cure the damage.

If you have any information of importance, yes buy an Anti-Virus package.
