RMAing Intel CPU

Anyone ever RMA a CPU with Intel? Talk about a pain in the butt. They blaim everything, but the CPU. After swapping out every component I have, they want me to try another P4 with this motherboard. I'm like.. uh.. I don't have another P4. Grr.. you have no idea how PO'd I am.

AMD AMD AMD AMD AMD... lol. Just kidding. But I really must laugh at this, while I'm fortunate enough to never have a Intel CPU die on me (I've owned 2 I guess, a 550mhz Celery and a 1.8ghz P4), I have had one unfortunate accident with a AMD CPU (crunched the core). I called AMD up and they said just return it. Within like 2 weeks of sending it I got a shiny new Athon XP 1700+ back (this was obviously a few years ago). Another win for AMD IMO

It didn't die on me (yet). It just doesnt' work right. I've swapped out ALL of the other components and it still sucks. Too bad its past my return period at Newegg. Now I have to deal with the shithead techs @ Intel.

All we have is gas stations and liquor stores.

Seriously though.. I can get a CPU online for half what CrapUSA or one of the smaller computer stores want. Not like CrapUSA's return policy is any better than the online places.

I called Intel back after work and talked to another tech. I dragged home a brand new 3.2GHz Dell from work, popped in the 2.8GHz CPU and whaddayaknow.. blue screen. Same error I was seeing on my other computer.

The Intel guy tried to blame the memory (I think this is their default answer for everything) but I reminded him that this was a Dell and that it had been running at the same speed bus for more than month with no problems. He finally caved and agreed to send me a new CPU. I'm sure it will probably take a few weeks to get here. I'm tempted to buy another until then... yeah right.

I would check the new CPU very carefully when you get it....
You never know what kind of damage might occur from prying it out of their multi-billion dollar tight ass...

That's strange. Intel Korea's probably better though it usually costs a lot to send processor to Singapore. Yes, we have to send processors to Singapore when they seem to malfuction. The fortunate thing is that AMD Korea is even worse. :D

i would never buy a processor in a store, since i am from wisconsin i would go down to the local dairy store and pick one off the shelf

i bought my 3.0 p4c on newegg, worked great, and got my free upgrade to prescott 3.0 p4e from a undisclosed location

that would be a good question for there tech support or you could look up the specs of your notebook online
