Why do they cost so much when optical drive prices have dropped so much in the past year?AFAIK all videocards and monitors are made in the same countries(Taiwan,S.Korea & China).
Why can't I buy a flat screen monitor for less than $300USD or an LCD with DVI for less than $600USD?And don't get me started on videocards...they want how much for a board,a CPU,RAM and a few capacitors?!
I think the prices are artificially overpriced!

I actually think monitors are too cheap. Maybe if they spent some money they could actually make a decent one instead of all the crap I see out there now.

As for video cards, like everything else electronic you're not paying for the parts you're paying for R&D and the factories that build these things.

Monitors are on sale quite often. You just have to look around. I have 17inch ViewSonic LCD with dual input (VGA and DVI) and 19inch NEC flat screen CRT which I got for $410 and $220 online.

Why don't you build one yourself to save some money? :D All the latest GPU's on graphic cards got so much powerful that they actually outperform FPU found in your CPU. Also RAM on video cards are at least twice faster than RAM used in PC.

Like Gooberslot said, it's the R&D and PC enthusiast demands that drive price up.
