Lack of Threads

Has anyone else noticed that ever since 2003 started, the forums have really been lacking threads. The past few days, the CD-RW forum has had very few new threads, with mostly everyone adding comments/input to previous threads. It seems like most of the new threads are in the DVD, Beer Garden, and Hot Deal forums. I guess there is probably no one single reason for this decline, but what does everyone think?

Here are some questions to ponder.
Has CD-RW drives become the old and DVD the new?
Drives have become more reliable?
The poor economy is hurting everyone, including CDRLabs?

However, I do know that CDRLabs is a tight knit community that will continue to grow and prosper as time goes on. :D

Well.. DVD writers are the big thing right now. CD-RW drives will eventially be replaced by them. There's no question about that.

I think its because we really haven't seen any new CD-RW drives. 52x writers have been around since October. While there have been a few new models here and there, the majority of them are based on 1 or 2 designs. Even I have a hard time getting excited about some of these drives lately.

As far as reliable.. do you really think so? Maybe people are just getting smarter and they don't need to ask so many questions? pfft... yeah right! Or even better.. they're using the FAQ section instead of asking the same stuff over and over and over...

trying to discourage me, Ian? :(

LOL, i just worked today on preparing a "how to enable DMA in win2K", made the pictures and all, when tried to upload the pics to my account at the univ i discovered my quota has been drastically reduced...i'm now 30% over my quota...luckily i don't use the univ account anymore for anything but mail...don't even know when that happened :o so this will have to wait a bit...

dodecahedron, definitely not. The FAQ section has helped a lot.

If you want us to host those pics, send em to me.

But what good are the pics without the accompanying explanation? I figured since you don't have access to a 98 system you might be a little rusty on the steps and it might help to jot down some notes. And once I went that far, I figured it wasn't much more work to just finish the job. :)
