As you can see, we've upgraded our forums to phpBB version 2. I really have to hand it to them, not only does the new version look great, they really put a lot of effort into their installation and upgrade scripts to make upgrading very easy. As far as we can tell, everything seems to be working again. There will be a seperate topic for any bugs you guys may find. This topic, however, is only for comments and impressions on the new release. Enjoy! :)

Cool, finally a new forum look! :D

I'm running at 1024x768 and I think fonts are rather small.

Wow, I've joined the forum before I was born. Fascinating. :-?

Han you need new glasses. :o

I do like the new forum. Lots of new features too. Just need to make it look like the old one and fix the date/time problems.

Hmm, my right eye is really getting worse, but you should definitely enlarge the fonts a little bit. Check out the Burning Issues forum. That's the look I really like. A real pleasure to your eyes. 8)

I'm not sure why quite a few people are having problems with fonts on the forum. What webbrowser are you fella's using? IE5/IE6 works fine so far. I haven't tried it with Mozilla in Linux yet.

The only problem I have is that default font size, i.e. Normal size (12 pt) is rather small and as such difficult to read. In the Reply message window fonts are super small. Please, we do not have 34" monitors. My browser is IE 6.0.

Weird thing is, I'm using the same point size, and nothing has changed for me between the two forum styles. We'll have to check into it.

Matt, Han, what size monitors do you have? 1024 on a 15" or even 1600 on a 17" is going to be tiny no matter what.

This is a very strange problem. I've got a 14" laptop @ 800 and @ 1024, 17" @ 1024 and @ 1280, and a 19" at all resolutions between 800 and 1600x1200 in Windows and Linux (Netscape 4.0 & 4.7, IE 5, 5.5, 6, Mozilla 0.9.7, and Galeon) and all have displayed fine for me. Granted the 1600x1200 is going to have small text, and granted what is fine for me could be huge for someone else or impossible to read for others.

I run 1024x768 on a 17" at work and 16x12" on a 21" at home as well as 1280x1024 on a 18.1" lcd and all look acceptible to me

I have the same as Matt, 1024x768 @ 17". It's not that text is not readable, it's just smaller than it was in the older forum and definitely smaller than in the other CDR forums. I have already mentioned one. Please, check it out and compare the look and font size. Thank you.

Code: Select all
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size="2">
That's what CDRInfo's forum's html looks like, our's shows -2. I don't recall off the top of my head what that is but they specified. They specify what fonts to use where this one does not, so maybe its your default font that is smaller than the verdana font? We'll have to get socheat to look further into this since he's the one doing the upgrades.

(possibly a stupid newbie question)
why can't i change the font size with my browser (ie6) ?
whatever setting i choose (smallest, small etc.) the font size stays fixed.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers ;)

Some web designers specify a fixed size. No problemos!
Go to "Internet Options", "Accesability" and tag the box: "Ignore font sizes specified on Web Pages".

You're welcome I'm sure Dodecahedron!

Nice to be able to be helpful, even nicer to be acknowleged for it :D

As for being ashamed, maybe the makers of IE should be, for not making their GUI friendlier. But as my grandma, bless her soul, used to say: "Only criminals have reasons to be ashamed"
