Dear Sirs,

We are looking to buy 10 million CD-R disks Grade "A". We would like to know prices, payment method, delivery time etc. These disks must be manufactured in the USA and have a certificate of origin. We cannot accept Disks manufactured in China or Taiwan because our import taxes and fees are to high for Asian products in Mexico. Please contact me if you have a price quote etc. My name is Chuck and I represent Industrias Nader Electronica S.A. in Mexico City.

Best Regards,
Chuck.

That's a fact.
I would negotiate a purchase with one of these US distributors(So.California) and rent a truck(s):

Thank you for your help. What I really need is for the disks to have a "certificate of origin" from the USA. If it has a certificate of origin of an asian country our taxes and fees here in mexico will be too high for us to succesfully sell them. I spoke to one company already and they are giving us a price of .19 USD for each. I am looking for a price of around .15 USD. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,
Chuck.

Why not buy discs made in Mexico? CMC has a plant there.

As Chuck states, they are trying to resell them.
The CMC discs sold in Mexico might be priced much higher than the .15 per disc target price.

That is my take on it.

Yes, that is what I meant. If one intends to resell discs, what better place to get wholesale prices than straight from the factory?

It is hard to believe that discs made in America, or even imported through America, would be cheaper than discs made in Mexico directly where they are to be sold.

But, this doesn't really concern me. :)

I sure hope your business model is more well thought out, than "order 10 million blank CD's from a public website and resell them in Mexico" LOL.

Private contacts even via public web forums are common.

@MoeMonney

Anyway, I don't know how much the tax is but CD-R Grade A for US$.15 is too vague. More details please, not that I can sell.

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your help, especialy BurninFool. We are curently in negotiation with one of the companies from the links that you provided to me. They are giving me a price of .1685 per disk. The contact I have there told me that there are about 5 asian companies that have plants in the US that fabricate CDR's and he has a certificate of origin from them to prove that they are fabricated in the USA. It is from one of these plants that he is getting the amount we need. The amount that im looking to buy has actually risen to 24 million. I already talked to the CNC plant here in Mexico and they are selling at .21 per disk. But they can't sell any untill august because their monthly production of 23 million a month is already taken and payed for untill august 2004. At this point I would really like to find out the emails or phone numbers for the plants I heard of in the USA. If anyone can help me with that I would greatly apreciate it. My email is IndustriasNader@aol.com
Best Regards,
Chuck

Im sorry, i forgot to add that what we are looking for is Grade "A" disks with no cases, just bulk packaging. Doesnt matter if they are 650 mb or 700mb. As long as they are grade "A" and have no cases and have a certificate of origin from the US we can do business. The tax here is 35%, thats put in our storage area. After we sell we have to pay the government 38% of the profits to the government for sales tax. So you can calculate how much basically it would be costing us to get the disks here.
Best regards,
Chuck

Glad you found a suplier Chuck. Good Luck!

I do have a question:
Isn't "grade A" subjective? I mean what exactly constitutes a "grade A" CD-R disc?

Dear friends, I learned yet again today that our supllier actually got the disks from Taiwan. After further investigation we learnt that there are truly no Disk factories in the US or Canada, This means that you guys were previously correct about there not being any Factories that fabricate CDR's in the USA or Canada. We also learned that they are charging us only 33% taxes on disks from Taiwan as long as they have a Visa'ed Certificate or origin from the Mexican embassy. So that is good news to us and we are currently getting that for the disks we are ordering. Grade "A" is the highest grade possible for CDR's These CDR's have an error rate from .01% to .5 % I think...

Best Regards and thank you for your help,
Chuck

"Grade A" really doesn't mean a whole lot. Much of the "quality" of the media depends on the type of burners you're going to be recording with. There is a *very* extensive thread on media quality in the CD-RW forum, I would recommend a visit to that thread.

I don't know of a manufacturer out there who probably wouldn't claim that their media is Grade B or lower :)

The points you make about it not meaning much and that manufacturers would claim "Grade A", are exactly what I was thinking Matt :)
I am glad I am not alone...

PS: I think your last sentence should read "would claim"...
