what's the diff?

Well, the company hasn't been too specific as to the differences, but for my purposes the big difference seems to be that the 163D uses Audio Caching whereas the 163 did not. Since I use EAC (Exact Audio Copy), the 163 would be much better for me.

NCIX.com (US side of website) has the LTD-163-OEM (w/ software) for sale for $44.22 USD plus shipping.

I'm not sure if the price is reasonable for you but it was just something I was looking at picking up also.

LOL I can promise any 163D owner that his drive will not change into 163 just by visiting my site

On a serious note: Although it can be done and has been done, I never recommended it and I don't think I would have done it myself.

I think I just lost my unquestioned confidence in dimitri...

(even though he has been a big help to me)
