Hurray! I'm holding my $30 rebate from Lite On in my hand. Now that is all of them. What a deal for $ 9.99!
Now when I get my LD-W 411S (coming Weds. from BB, $79.99 AMR), I will have to submit those rebates and wait all over again :D

Interesting. I finally got my $60 Best Buy gift card from this deal today (long story). I guess despite all the hassles, I didn't get my remuneration any later than most people got their rebates.

I haven't thoroughly read this thread but I picked up this drive for $25 (tax included) after 2 Best Buy rebates last month. Do they normally deliver within the advertised time period (2 months)?

I finally got my LiteOn rebate yesterday, over three months after sending my submission.

I should have sent it before I went on vacation for a week, I suppose, but I was busy packing etc. and didn't get around to it.
Doing that might have helped in this case, since many people had to wait for their drives (I got in early the first day of the deal), and by the time I came back from vacation, a bunch of them had probably submitted their rebates.

 Something is definitely wrong. You need to call the phone numbers on the rebate forms.

Best Buy is pretty quick in sending their check. Liteon takes forever to send their check.

Cool, there weren't any Lite-On rebates for this deal anyhow. :D Both were sent to Best Buy P.O. Boxes.

But one was sent on to LiteOn. That's the slow one.

Oh dear, I better get ready for a 4-month waiting period.

As long as the burner lasts over a year...The last drive I purchased (TDK-badged Lite-On) died before I even managed a year of use. This was definitely a leap of faith purchase.

I'm sorry to hear that your TDK died after a year; I don't think that's normal. Three of my six Lite-Ons are well more than a year old (my LTR-12101B is almost 2.5 years old), and all are still working! The only problem I had was that the tray on my 32123S was acting a little strange, but I took it apart (and put it back together again without fixing anything), and it has been acting normal since then. However, even when the tray was acting weird, the drive still worked fine.

I do know how frustrating it is to have optical drives die, though. Before I began buying only Lite-Ons, I had owned four optical drives. Two died within a year, and one was DOA.

Yes, I was no doubt bummed. It happened right after I attempted to erase an old scratchy cd-rw disc. Hey, are you active on the cdfreaks forum? I think you tried to help me there with this very issue, lol

I definitely miss my ole trusty Yamaha...when I purchased it in '98, I was able to justify the high price, but I just couldn't do that with the recent model versus these cheap Lite-On's. ;)

I've heard in other forums, however, that Lite-Ons are manufactured to last only about a year (under heavy use, I presume). I guess that depends on different manufacturing variables and a little bit of luck. ;) The sad thing is I probably burned less than 100 cd's w/ my last Lite-On. :(

I got 2 Lite-on rebates last week, so they came pretty quickly! :)

Yes, I am on the cdfreaks forum, too. :D

I see what you mean about the drive prices, too; it's hard to beat Lite-On drives these days.

I'm not sure in which forums you've heard that Lite-Ons should last only a year, but I doubt that this is true. Currently, three of my six Lite-Ons are well over 1 year old, and they all still work. I've actually never had a Lite-On die. I've also heard of other people burning thousands of discs on Lite-On drives without any problems.

I think the problem is that Lite-On quality control is not very good, meaning that some drives are very good, and some drives are very bad. To date, I have had one Lite-On drive die on me, and that is mainly because I didn't buy any more Lite-On drives after the first one died on me, I just got an exchange, and haven't bought a Lite-On drive since, and don't plan on it either.

CDRecorder, it was firsthand accounts from various forums (not isolated). I'm inclined to agree with aviationwhiz after my (limited) experience. I just hope this recent purchase will be of the Lite-On caliber that you've come to know & appreciate. Again, I can't reiterate enough about the performance of the Yamaha CRW4416 (4x4x16), which has taken a licking but won't stop kicking, which is why the premature Lite-On failure was like a slap in the face. ;)

Bestbuy sends out their rebates pretty quick. I'm sure you will get your Liteon rebate.

Check status frequently for the Liteon rebate from the link provided in this thread earlier.

Thanks, Vesekh! I hadn't read many of the posts earlier in this thread since they didn't apply to me at the time. According to that site, the rebate is currently being processed. :D

In other good news, I just burned 711MB of data to a Fuji TY @52X (2:38 burning time) with less than 5,000 C1 errors and no C2 errors. I'm definitely liking this drive more than the TDK-badged 48X burner I had before (so far, *knock knock*).

Glad the burner is working well for you.

Looks like they received your rebate form.
Hopefully, their site will soon say check mailed. :D
