Thanks redk9258. This is quite timely. See my rant in the CompUSA hot deal thread. :D

Welcome, redk9258!! How did you find this special deal? It wasn't listed on the hot deals section of the BB website.

Great job!

I got one of those this summer when they had them for 80 outright has a pricematch to comp USA or somebody. They actually gave me a rain check and honered it when some more drives came in :)
It was also posted here, I love this place.

Here we go again...
The item listed below is not yet available to be shipped. We expect to ship it to you by 10/20/2003.

The rebates must be postmarked by 11/18/03. Hope they ship on time.

UPDATE: Now this deal is gone from BestBuy.com. The weekly newspaper ad shows $159.99 - $80.00 in rebates = $79.99. Guess someone made a mistake!! I hope they honor the rebates, I already printed them out.

That sounds familiar... I got a very similar e-mail when I ordered my $10-after-MIR LTR-52327S from them.

Edit: BB seems to have taken down that page. Even when I click on the link for that deal on BB's page, it says that the page no longer exists.

As I write this the drive is still shown on the bestbuy.com home page, even though the link is bad as others have said. However, the three rebate links on the front page still work, so if you can find this drive in-stock at your local Best Buy you might still be able to take advantage of this offer.

I just printed out all 3 and 2 ask for a photocopy and 1 asks for original so I think that they will honor them. Also 2 of the 30 dollar rebates are also good on the 250 gig Western Digital.

Oh yeah Best Buy also has a WD 250 gig hard drive for 299-130 rebates=169.1 70 dollar and 2 30 dollar.

Of course, you did know that BBY stores just print out the rebate with the recipt...right?

Yes, but if this actually was an offer Best Buy was trying to rescind, by the time someone got to the store to buy the drive, Best Buy may have already removed the forms from the system so that the rebate forms wouldn't print out at the register.

I went to BB yesterday, they said they did not have them in stock, they would have them this week. As I was leaving I checked the overstock area by the customer service desk. Lo and behold they had the 120's there. I bought one but only got the $50 and one $30 rebate printed out at checkout. I printed out the second $30 rebate from website, it has a different rebate number, so it should be OK.

Best Buy will not honor the second $30 rebate for purchases made in-store.

I have checked the fine print in the terms and conditions section of the rebates printed from the BestBuy.com site, and it clearly states "In-store rebates are valid on in-store purchases only. BestBuy.com rebates are valid with online purchases only." The rebates printed out from www.bestbuy.com are all marked as BestBuy.com rebates, so according to their terms they will not be honored for in-store purchases.

It looks like the only way to get this deal for $50 is if you ordered online before BestBuy.com removed the offer. Those of you who purchased the drive in-store are only eligible for the rebates printed out at the register, and thus will only get the drive for $80.

I hope that no one purchased this drive in-store expecting to get it for $50 and opened the package with that anticipation. If you haven't yet opened the package and don't want to pay $80 for it, return the drive to get a refund. And don't wait too long, I think hard drives only have a 14-day return policy.

Rats! I should have pulled the trigger straight-away and ordered when I first saw the deal.

If you're adventurous, try to submit all the rebates anyway.

I've sent & received online rebates for in-store purchases twice before.

once was the Netgear 8 port switch that Ian noticed on the Hot Deals, and I used the online rebate for my in-store purchase.

Sure. It can't hurt to try. Just be aware that there is a very good chance they won't honor the one $30 rebate and be prepared to be happy with an $80 drive.

If I'm lucky I'll have the drive for only $20!!!

Assuming I get all 3 rebates, which brings the price to $50, Best Buy also mailed me a few coupons, one of which was $10 gift card for every $50 spent on PC accessories. So I got a $30 gift card with the purchase.

Here's to crossing all my fingers & toes!!!

I got another $5 off when I ordered. Don't really know why, though.
