Yes these are from Taiwan but for under $2 who cares. I have an Liteon 52x32x52 CD-RW which i haven't installed yet in my Dell P3 500 but figured might as well buy the disc. Could not find any from Japan no matter which store i looked in down here in FL. Well anyone got some info on how to install the cd-rw in a dell computer? Not to long ago I installed a new Maxtor 80 gigHD to replace the failing IBM one and this also has 1 dvd player & one zip drive and 1 floppy.oh yeah ATA 33 control card.

installing a cd-rw drive in a dell shouldn't be any different from any other computer, except trying to get the case apart

yes Taiwan

I just bought these and they turn out to be CMC :(
(according to Nero). Oh well, 2 bucks

P.S.: The rebate is through Staples, who have usually
been reliable and relatively quick in my experiences.

something we do at our company that I don't know if anyone else does:

http://www.staplesrebates.com/

online rebate submission, your doing all the filing yourself, so usually my rebates come in like a month or less

Hey hoxlund.
I have a question for you that maybe you can check with someone in Staples, since you work there.

It seems a lot of Black Friday Staples rebates did NOT mention
anything (either online at staplesrebates.com or on the rebate form that prints at the register) about sending in the UPC code.

I have been doing rebates for a while now, and this
is the first time that so many rebates don't list the UPC code as a requirement.
In fact, I have submitted quite a good number of rebates over the past few years, and I have just about ALWAYS been asked to include either the original UPC or a copy thereof.

Is not requiring a UPC (or even a copy thereof) a new policy for Staples funded (NOT manufacturer) rebates, or is it a major omission on someone's part ?

I submitted a copy of the UPC, even though this was not listed as a requirement.

Thanks!

Actually, this is almost universal. Only BB is holding out. But, yes - it definitely speeds things up.

I must add that I did two Staples TDK rebates a few months ago (DVD burner and CD-R spindle). The rebate checks arrived about 18 days after I mailed in the materials. That is by far the fastest rebate I have ever gotten. I was stunned!
