I can vouch for that. The TDK 4x DVD+R's are amoung the best in the industry, up there with the Fuji equivalent (also RICOHJPNR01)

Those TDK disk are really great here too. They would burn at 4x with good quality in my Sony 500a that is one of the picky ones. The Memorex versions with the same ID ony do 2.4 in the Sony and are so variable at any speed in my 811 it's hard to tell if the burn will work when it's done.
I'm going to stick with TDK, Verbatim, or Fuji from now on.
Another reason to hit BB today :)

I picked these up at best buy today. The 25 packs were black bottom, not grey bottom as in the posted picture. I was afraid these were going to be CMC Magnetics instead of Ricoh brand as a result. Sure enough, dvd identifier identifies these as "CMC MAG F01". Damn, this sucks. Every time I see the B&Ms selling DVD media for $1/disk it has been CMC Magnetics not a better quality brand. Hasn't mattered whether the vendor is Verbatim, TDK or Fuji.

I bought the big box of Imatation dvd+r media and it turned out to only support 2.4 speed so I took them back without a problem, I hadn't burned any just stuck it in my Sony and ID'd it and checked available speeds. They gave me a full refund.

The TDK branded CMC dvd+r's burn OK at 4x with my sony dru500. I'm 6 for 6 so far with no errors detected by nero (or my dvd player). I wish there was a way to verify the true quality of these disks. Maybe TDK branded CMC disks don't anymore have the quality problems that CMC is famous for. Wish I could tell. Also wish there was more disclosure as to the manufacturers. Lacking that, one can't tell whether a sale price is just an ordinary deal on cheap media or a good price on quality media.

2.0g. I just upgraded to 2.0h actually, but haven't burned any more TDK/CMCs since. With 2.0h, dvdidentifier still claims 4x write capability for these CMC disks.

My 500a did 4x with the RICOH disk TDK sells and I picked up a spindle today and it was RICOH with a black bottom also so maybe that's not the way to tell them apart anymore. Mine are made in Taiwan and have the little grip notches in the top also if that sounds different from the CMC you got. I'm burning my new copy of Once Upon A Time in Mexico and we'll see how these do at 8x and maybe 6x.
They had a few boxes here, but I didn't look every where to see if they had more stashed around the store.

My new TDK branded CMC dvd+r's came in a pack with the grip notches on the top (black on bottom). A couple weeks ago I bought another 25 pack of dvd+r's. Those were Fuji branded, with grey bottom and no grip notches at the top. Those disks were Ricoh (which dvd identifier says will burn at 4x). Both packs were made in Taiwan (I haven't seen anything but Taiwan disks at B&Ms lately). You sure yours are Ricoh +r's?

When you mentioned burning at 6x or 8x I assume you mean with something other than the sony 500a.

I keep hoping someone will respond with some quantitative info about how CMC does or doesn't suck these days but all I've seen are opinions...

I'll get a paste of the ID for you but yes they are Ricohs. I bought a 811 a short time ago and it will burn them with good quality at 6x, 8x is a little dodgy. I did some burns today and they were pretty bad but my drive crashed a while back and has been slowly getting worse since. I redid a bunch of things and now it seems to be doing good again. My Sony Claims 4x for the media but I haven't run one through it yet to see if it really does 4x or not.

Media code/Manufacturer ID RICOHJPNR01
Format Capacity Not Formatted
Free Blocks 405405696
Free Capacity 4.38GB(4.70GB)
Book Type DVD+R
Media Type DVD+R
Media Id Code Speed 4.0x 5540KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 8.0x 11080KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 6.0x 8310KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 4.0x 5540KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 2.4x 3324KBps

I guess theres no for sure way to know what your getting at this rate.

Mine just came...

I ordered the 25 pk from the online store, and just received them yesterday. Black bottom and all, checked them out, these are definitely CMC.(I was hoping for Ricoh). I did buy some Memorex about a month ago, and they also, were CMC. They burned ok on my LiteOn 411s, I had a couple of coasters, but I believe I can contrbute that to operator error, as I was just starting my initiating into DVD burning.
