The 8x DVD±RW from Micro Advantage drive is a rebadged BTC DRW1008IM.

The 8x DVD+RW from KHypermedia is usually a rebadged BenQ or Cyberdrive.

Needless to say, the Micro Advantage drive is the better deal here.

I went to my OM about 75 minutes after opening.
Needless to say, the DVD+R media was sold out.
It is only 2.4X anyway, so it takes about three times as long as 4X media that can be burned at 8X, which made me decide it probably wasn't worht it to me anyway.
I am still debating whether or not to jump into dual layer burning or keep my two PX-708A drives and not worry about the extra capacity.

I picked up an RCA universal remote for my parents (their old one remote has almost stopped working and they don't want to get a new TV just yet).
I have to go to Home Depot later, which is right next to OM, with my girlfriend to pick up some horizontal blinds that keep the light out (I forgot what they are called).

I will see if my OM has a substitution. I read four 25 packs of Imation, followed by two 50 pacvks of Memorex, are the substitutions at one OMax.

They told me they weren't doing subsitutions and give me a raincheck. I know they have a sub list but they just won't acknowledge it. Ah well...

I went there this morning and picked up the Imation 50 pack CDR which was free after MIR. Made in India on the package and Kprobe identifies the discs as Moser Baer India Limited. I haven't burnt with them yet so I don't know how they will compare to CMC, TY, or Ritek which makes up the rest of the stock I have on hand.

FYI: The Arita 2.4x were actually RICOHJPNR01. Another OM subbed 2-Memorex 4x 50pack spindles which were also RICOHJPNR01.

Mine are RICOHJPNR00 and burn pretty well at 4x, 6x works but is really pushing it so I guess it depends on your luck on these but for 40 bucks for 100 4x is great. I have a 811 that can do these at 4x with the right firmware, I haven't tried them in my Sony 500a yet but I'd guess it will only do 2.4 like they're rated.

Something interesting with the CDR's discs. The first few Kprobe identified as described above with a grade of "B-". Now the last few I've been using from the spindle are being identified as "Unknown" with a grade of "A-" in Kprobe. The average C1 error rate for the ones identified as Moser Baer India Limited was around 1.7xx consistently. The ones with the "Unknown" descriptor have a C1 average of around 2.5xx consistently.
