I checked both best buy and officemax, and they only have black spindles dvd+r.
Best Buy has tons of them.

I ended up finding a grey spindle @ frys and have they pricematch bb. I really doubt if any new shipments are ricoh anymore.

Looks like TDK and Memorex have switched to CMC for their DVD+R spindles.

My local Best Buy only had the black spindles of the Memorex 4x DVD+R 50pack. They had a couple of grey spindles of the 25 pack, but these are not on sale.

I did not buy a 50pack spindle.

Yes, my local bb (milpitas, ca) also has a couple grey spindle 25 pack, but no 50 pack, I think they easily have 100 50 packs there but all black.

I bought a Memorex spindle at BB a couple of weeks ago and it was Ricoh and had a black spindle.

So, what you're saying is that there is no way to tell anymore on whether the discs are made by Ricoh or CMC anymore. :(

I'll wait for the prices to comes down for the true 8x DVD+R as I still have plenty of Ricoh DVD+R available. Or I'll buy 4x DVD+R and burn them at 4x speed so that I don't waste any of them.

You used to be able to tell if a memorex spindle was made by CMC by the high raised rim on the clear plastic cover.

And ones made by other companies had a smooth or knurled top. Some had a gray base. Memorex uses so many companies to make thier CD's and DVD's its always a crapshoot on what you're going to get.

Well that seems to still be true. The Memorex had the smoother top. No raised sides.

Well bought one 50pack 4x memorex dvd+r today at bb, jet black bottom with a smooth top, turns out to be ricoh.

Don't see any raise sides 50 pack at all at bb, however they've a bunch raise sides 25 pack.

Are you able to burn at 8x speed with these Memorex without any slowdowns?

[I was in Office Max today, and they had the 50 Pk Memorex for $59.95($10 more than the BestBuy)...If I would have had the Best Buy ad with me they would have matched the price, but I didnt have it. Anyway, it had the rounded top like the one in the picture, so one would assume it was Ricoh. There were some 25 pks next to them, and they definitely had the higher top like in the other picture.. All bottoms were black no greys.
