Possibly a Lite-on LDW-811S or Lite-on SOHW-812S according to this thread:

CompUSA has a Buslink 8x drive for $99.99 after rebate:

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?ref=performics&product_code=308458&pfp=BROWSE

Buslink's older models used NEC drives, so maybe this is a rebadged NEC-2500A?

Nope, the 2500 is a True 8x drive, this Buslink isn't. I think it's a Lite-On LDW-811S/851S. See my reply here.

The SOHW-812S won't be out until March at the earliest. Expect an 811S or 851S in the Buslink box.

thanks guys for the tips.

I actually saw the BB adds but if I must waite for a rebate then I will just buy it from NewEgg and get the low price right then. I hate rebates but I was hoping for one of the deals like Office Max had last week but on a different drive.

guess the NEC2500A from New Egg is going to be the one I get.

thanks,
Mike

well the NEC @ $110 in black from NewEgg finally won me over.

I went to BB and I had the $119 Lite-On but I changed my mind because it wasnt worth the extra $65 I was going to have to pay out now and then waite for a rebate. I have a less than 50% success with dang rebates.

anyhooo- it will arrive this week sometime....

what a relief to get a good product at a good price.

cant waite

Does anyone know if Buslink has improved their rebate process?

I nearly waited a year before being paid my Buslink rebates on CDRW. I stay away from Buslink products with rebates now just for that reason.
