Pretty nice price for 8x media (even though it is +R :P ). Anyways, check it out here.

Very tempting. I'd need to know the media ID before ordering though. I don't want to end up with 4x DVD+R discs again.

The two reviewers said they only burned at 4X on the Pioneer '7'-series and NEC ND2500. So perhaps, not the true 8X again.

I think I read somewhere that the Pioneer can't write to Ritek's 8x DVD+R media at 8x yet. Not sure about the NEC though.

Nice price!
I may have to return the 50 Memorex 4X +R that I recently bought (five 10-packs in jewel cases) for $40 inc tax and free shipping, since I am not sure if they are CMC or Ricoh.

Then again, I might be selling my two SL DVD burners and getting a DL DVD burner (or two, depending on price) when they become available.

Actually, it may be the 8x media since if it was the 4x Ritek DVD+R media, the NEC drive would have had the option to burn it at 6x. So possibly its the new 8x media and the NEC drive doesn't have that media code listed in the firmware, so it just defaulted to 4x?

The Pioneer A07 cannot burn 8x Ritek DVD+Rs at 8x, even with firmware 1.10. This is from personal experience

dolphinius_rex,

Have you heard when the Pioneer will be able to burn it at 8x?

I have a Pioneer A07 burner.

Has anyone bought any of this 8x media? What is the media id of it?
I'm with Ian on this one. Until I know what the media id of these are at newegg, I won't buy any. I don't want the same thing that happened to Ian happen to me.

Ian,

Did Meritline ever fix that problem? Do you still get 4x media or do you get 8x media now? I would like to know. I wouldn't buy any from them either until I knew I was going to get 8x media and not 4x media.

I keep checking their forum and from what I've seen there, people are still getting 4x discs. I'm not sure wtf is going on over there. Needless to say, I haven't ordered any more from them. That whole fiasco has kept me from orderin 8x -R discs as well.

Should burn at 8x, but from what I hear the R03's aren't too hot...

I'll continue to look for 4x DVD+R Ricoh media made by Fuji or Memorex if I find any.
