For the MicroAdvantage burner, if the S/N starts with a 'P', then it's a BTC, as that seems to be their marking patterns. Also, it's a 52/32/52, BCE5232IM.

These CDRW's were on sale just 2 weeks ago for $5 AR, so not a great deal.

It was at OM as well. The Micro Advantage 52/32/52 drive had two serial number codes, actually, one started with 'P', the other one 'C'. I'm not sure who the 'C' is from. I actually had the BTC, but after reading a review based off the 5232IM, since the firmware version was the same, I decided to return it, since the reviewer said it didn't work well with TY CDR media. Of course, a firmware update could correct the problem.

If anybody here is in Portland Oregon metro area the Gresham OfficeMax as of today at 10am still had 5 boxes of Pacific Digital drives with serials 41a and 10? so at least some of what they have are NEC 2500 drives. I wanted a LiteOn 851 but those serials are all gone.
I got a 2500 last week from this same store.
The 205 store had only Kyhpermedia drives left.

My local OM is retarded. They only had the sale tag on the KHypermedia drive. They did have a sale tag on the PD drive, but it said "109.99" after MIR on it. They must really want you to buy the KHyper drives.

A guy was returning one of those while I was there and a employee was saying they might have got a bad batch as many had come back. You should call em on that Ian or try another close store. I have 2 almost the same time apart here.

I had the same problem with what I think was a bad one about a month ago. I could not get my CPU to get past POST with the thing in it, unless I disabled the device in BIOS entirely. I took it back and asked if there had been any other returns, but the guy said I was the only return he knew of. I'd be willing to bet that one got put back on the shelf for som other poor soul to buy.
