Their website lists the DVD offer as DVD+RW from Memorex. Same price as you listed.

My uncle bought one of these today.

He got an Artec DHM-G48R drive. Is this drive any good?

Sorry, I posted an incorrect model # (been edited). The one you posted is the right one. Here's Artec's page on the drive:

http://www.artecusa.com/products-dvdrom.html

From the specs it looks good, supposedly it can read plus and minus DVD R and RW (even though the retail box doesn't list plus media). Unknown how it benchmarks, haven't found any reviews. I have the drive, it works well, and is relatively quiet for movies. Can't speak for DAE because I just don't rip music (no need). I have it paired with a Lite-On 48x24x48, the Lite-On is obviously a much better reader for CDs...I can tell that even without benchmarking software. But that's probably an unfair comparison given Lite-On drives in general...

And there was a thread on it in the DVD-ROM forum last summer, you might want to look for that...

I was just in my local CompUSA today and they still had some of the 30pack spindles of Fuji that were made in Japan.

However, the 100packs on sale were made in Taiwan, as were the 50packs.
