Mad Dog DVD Burner at Office Max

OfficeMax has the Mad Dog Multimedia Dominator 6-in-1 8x Dual Format DVD burner for $49.98 after rebate. The rebate is from OfficeMax not Mad Dog. I have a $50.00 gift certificate for OfficeMax, so this deal interests me.

I did a search of the forum and a few older posts said that this burner is an NEC 2500. Can anyone confirm this, or is there someplace to check on this.

Thanks

good thing that the rebate is from officemax and not mad dog. I think you have to have mad dog disease to do a rebate with them.

It seems that MadDog Multimedia is currnetly using NEC exclusively.

They also have the ND-2510A dual layer drive as their dual layer drive.

I bought one today locally and it is indeed a NEC 2500A, they only had black bezels.

As far as I know, the MadDog DVD drives are exclusively NEC. Good deal for the drive at that price.

I'm just curious, I went to my OM today and picked one up for the regular price with rebate. The guy there found a copy of an upcoming ad, which will have a 40 IR which I think starts next week. I got a $40 MIR which printed out tonight. Did you guys get the $40 IR when you bought? I picked it up now, and will get the price adjusted when the 40 goes on sale.
Also, the one that prints out at the register I think goes to maddog and not OM. I printed out OM's instead, and will use that. Both unfortunately want the original bar code.

Mad Dog rebates suck, Office Max rebates suck as well...

I'm a little confused here. The price on the original ad was $89.98 AFTER the $40.00 instant rebate. The ad said that there was an addition mail-in rebate of $40.00. However, the link in the ad led to a $30.00 mail-in rebate from Office Max. Perhaps there was an additional $10.00 mail-in rebate from Mad Dog, but no link was provided.

I have never had difficulty with OM rebates. However, it's pretty widely acknowledged that getting rebates from Mad Dog is problematic at best.

Where did you get the Office Max $40.00 mail-in rebate?

I got the rebate from OM's web site. Go to the rebates link on the lower right side of the page, and choose search by mft >MadDog. The drive is a 2500-A with black bezel, I turned it over and it says it's an NEC-they don't go to any great pains to hide who really makes it. Seems now a days the only difference in these drives is the company name on the outside of the box, not the brand of the product that's actually in the box. My last 'Pacific Digital' was an 811 with the original Lite On label on the drive.

Thanks for the info. I went to the OfficeMax site and got the form.
