Thanks Ian.

Anyone know the make and model of that Pacific Digital 12x burner?

Bill

How'd I miss that. For those wondering, they also have a Pacific Digital 12x DVD writer for $99.94. No rebates.

I'm not sure who makes it. With the specs listed on Staple's website, it could be anyone.

I emailed Pacific Digital to ask what 12X DVD burner was in the box. The response surprised me, I would have thought a Lite-on.

P.D. wrote "If that is the 12DVD burner that should be the Artec drive."

well the ones at my store have an eject and skip trak button on bezel

according to the picture on artec site, that only has an eject button

someone should point Pacific Digital to one of the many discussions that have proved the Artec is incapable of 12x DVD recording... and point out to them the potential lawsuits that could follow if they decide to put their name on such a drive... honestly, don't any of these companies CHECK the drive before putting their name on it??? :o #-o

Yeah, I don't get it either, Hoxlund.

I'm sitting here at my desk today so I just called P.D. tech support to verify. The man said the only drives their currently using for the 12X dual burner is the Artec, no Lite-on's to date.

I guess we will have to wait for someone (guinea pig) to buy one.

Well, from my experience with their media I would say it is likely they ARE stupid heads  they used only CMC media back when I used to buy them (and not know better...) and all my Pacific Digital discs died within a year
