picked one up, because just a few minutes ago my litey that was less then a week old died

probably something to do with the 16x rip unlocked firmware i used to rip movies

the litey couldn't keep up

I was going to buy the litey 5235k combo but said what the hell this is only like $20 more

What made you select the NEC over this BenQ(that has just been reduced even further from normal price)? http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductde ... 633&DEPA=0

sorry for going off-topic, but this picture from newegg (link posted above) doesn't at all look like my BenQ DW1620!

im sorry if i offend anyone, but damn it hell no on the benq

it just looks super cheap and another thing its a BENQ!

at least the nec's have some reputation to them

ohh and its not black, i like the black ones =D>

That's because you have a retail version, and the one pictured on newegg is an OEM version. I guess BenQ thinks the retail consumer deserves a more stylish drive, presumably to better differentiate the product. Personally I prefer the simpler look of the OEM version. But that's just me.

I was just curious,,looking for more input, as I'm trying to decide between these two brands to put into my youngest sons computer Im buillding.

My favorite drives, looks wise, are the Pioneer Xl drives :)

Those are the coolest looking drives I've seen.

If this is off topic, sorry.

Out of those two Benq drives, the Oem looks better. It has a bigger eject button and is plainer looking.
