Futurepowerpc.com has the Plextor 716A
on sale for $119.95 with free shipping. =D>
This comes with a $30 mail in rebate,
so the net cost is $89.95. =P~
Who says Plextor
Drives always cost too much? [-X
At this price
Plextools is worth it!
I have bought both the Plextor 708A and
the 712A from FuturePowerPC.com with
excellent service and absolutley no
problems with either drive: They're
still burning strong! :D

Not bad.
The PX-716A was actually available for $79 - $81 (two different sites) a few weeks ago after $30 rebate with no tax for most states and free shipping.

You're Right!

I almost pulled the plug, and bought one at Buy.com
($79.99) but I would have paid sales tax. Ever since
firmware 1.04 was released; the price for the 716A
has increased. I only posted this deal because this is
the site I buy all my CD & DVD drives from, and it
seems there are to many complaints about the cost
of Plextor products. I only paid $80 for my 712A,
and it is a fantastic drive.
(After $30 rebate which I received yesterday).
I plan to buy a Plextor DL burner, but only after all
the issues (hardware & firmware) have been worked
out, and of course good DL media is on the market
at competitive prices. I believe the Plextor 712A and
the 712sata are the best drives out there for everyday
use, but single layer media has got to meet your needs!

I think this is possibly the best deal on this now, so I think it was good that you posted it - some people may want one right now.

Yes, since the new firmware, and better / updated reviews, came out
the price has gone up, although it was a delayed reaction.

Buy.com doesn't charge tax in my state, but since I haven't even once used the DVD burner (ND-3500A) I bought in December... (about to archive some data this weekend), I will wait before buying another DVD burner.
