Thanks TCAS. I hope your right about the -R media being made in Japan. I've looked at 3 or 4 stores, and all of their stock was made in Taiwan. Good price too.

noycan; both DVD+R and DVD-R are made in Japan and Taiwan and usually they are sitting mixed on the shelfs. You have to carefully look for the ones that are made in Japan.

I have no problem to burn these (Maxell 8X) DVD+/-R both at 16X with my NEC 3500 mod L/D f/w. I use both Fuji Yuden DVD+/-R and Maxell DVD+/-R all 8X, they all the same and they all burn at 16X without any problem at all.

I would say so, yes. Quite recorder-dependent though, so YMMV.
