Circuit also has on sale (Sept 4-10) DVD+/-R(8X) nexXtech brand $6.98 for pack of 25. The -R one are Verbatim brand with MID MCC 03RG20. Look the following:

Has Plextor improved the burning quality of Maxells with the 716A in any of the latest firmware releases? When I got my 716A in Feb or so, it was horrible with true MIJ Maxell, really bugged me since I love Maxell media.

Hrm, doesn't matter, ALL the Maxell spindles in my local Staples were Taiwan... even the 15 packs. Only the jewel cased 10 packs were MIJ.

You are right I just came back from Staples, I check almost all of Maxell DVD+/-R (8X) which they are on sale none was made in Japan so I decided no to by any.
